The Sacred Science of Pitru Tarpana: Pacifying Ancestral Lineage & Releasing Karmic Debts
According to the venerable Garuda Purana (Pretakalpa) and the Markandeya Purana, when our departed ancestors (Pitrus) do not attain liberation or remain thirsty and unappeased in Pitru Loka, an energetic block known as Pitru Dosh descends upon subsequent generations.
In Vedic astrology (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra), this planetary affliction is identified when the Sun or Moon is conjunct Rahu, Ketu, or afflicted by Saturn in the 9th house (Dharma Bhava). It manifests as recurring financial setbacks, inexplicable obstacles in children’s prosperity, delays in marriage, chronic disharmony, or persistent inner restlessness.
॥ ॐ देवताभ्यः पितृभ्यश्च महायोगिभ्य एव च ।
नमः स्वाहायै स्वधायै नित्यमेव नमो नमः ॥
॥ ॐ पितृगणाय विद्महे जगतधारिणी धीमहि तन्नो पितरो प्रचोदयात् ॥
"Salutations to all the divine devatas, the revered Pitrus, and the great yogis. Salutations again and again to Svaha and Svadha continuously. May our ancestors who sustain the universe awaken wisdom and divine light within us."
